History & Archives

The Royal St. Lawrence Yacht Club was founded in 1888 by a group of Montreal business men who wanted to pursue an interest in sailing. In 1894, the club was granted a “Royal” designation by Queen Victoria and our current patron is Prince Philip. The Royal designation allows members the privilege of visiting other Royal yacht clubs around the world and enjoying their facilities.

Beyond boating, the Club is proud to offer pool, tennis and dining facilities for all members to enjoy in a unique and spectacular waterfront venue only 15 minutes from downtown.

Our sailors have participated in various Olympics beginning in 1952, as well as PanAmerican Games and World Championships. The RStLYC is proud to acknowledge their efforts, determination and success.

It is with pleasure that we offer you this abridged version of our nautical history. For your consideration, please click on the video below.
