Junior Race Teams

Children and teenagers, as you can see in the pictures, who wish to improve their sailing techniques and sailing skills in various situations and contexts will be able to join one of the two competition teams. This program helps develop qualities and skills that are invaluable for a young athlete: teamwork, sportsmanship, fitness, organization, self-confidence, respect and autonomy. The Royal St. Lawrence Yacht Club has the best and longest track record in Quebec in training elite Canadian competitors.

Optimist Race Team

Club 420 Race Team

29er High Performance Race Team

The Club's racing team will focus almost exclusively on boat handling skills and racing techniques. Participants, using their own boats, will receive intensive training for provincial and national level competition. Travel will be extensive, however the travel schedule will be established well in advance. A quick response by April 1st will allow coaches to customize each candidate's goals and regatta schedule.

Club 420 Race Team

Two sailors per boat. Maneuvers, skills, advanced strategies for major competitions. Training for this program takes place in the Spring, Summer and Fall.

29er High performance Race team

The Yacht Club's high performance team trains year-round. Youth eligible for this program have a solid racing experience and aspire to qualify for the World Youth Sailing Championships. For the past two years, the teams that represented Canada at the "29er" competitions have come from the RStLYC. Participants in this program are required to provide their own boat.

Opti Race Team

This option is for the advanced Opti sailor who has completed the Learn to Race program. We strongly recommend that students complete the program without interruption. The program is offered in three sessions: Spring, Summer and Fall.
