Competitors Meeting Wednesday May 3 2017 at 7:00pm
Sailboat racing is a long-standing tradition at the Royal St-Lawrence Yacht club.
This year, we expect a great racing season under the direction of Steffan Marshall for Race Committee. We have racing for all levels of experience and if you are interested in joining the fun, call the office and they will direct you to the representative who handles your class of boat. They are listed below. Hope to see you at the start!
- Lightnings - Will Hall
- Laser 28 - Bill Layton
- PHRF- Gerry McGee
- White Sail - Luc Vallee
- Friday Fun - Alec Johnson
All boats participating in club races require a valid SLVYRA handicap, except for the Friday Fun series which uses its own handicapping system. If your boat is not listed in the SLVYRA List of Rated Yachts, or your handicap needs revising due to boat alterations, please get in touch with our club handicapper.
Every Wednesday from early May until September the RSTLYC hosts one race with a starting gun at 6:30 p.m. The boats accumulate points throughout the season. Each fleet's winner will be competing againsts each other to determine the club champion.
In an effort to promote racing amongst the clubs on the lake, we will again host the annual Sperry Challenge (open) and Myrtle Cook(ladies) Races. This is a Whitesail race so that everyone can participate, not necessarily only the seasoned racers. McAuslan Brewery supplies their silver trophy as well as a generous supply of their products. The Myrtle Cook Trophy was named after a lady who was a gold medal track Olympian in her time as well as a reporter who championed racing on the lake in the '60s'.
