RStLYC Sustainability Program
Welcome to the Royal St. Lawrence Yacht Club Green Program
Environmental issues are significant for a yacht club. Typically located on or near a body of water, a club's activities can considerably impact the surrounding environment. Yacht clubs can take steps to minimize their environmental impact and promote sustainability.
The Royal St. Lawrence Yacht Club’s membership is very aware of our pristine location and the responsibility our Club has for preserving the environment. Our Club is therefore launching its sustainability program. It will cover all aspects that touch on the environment.
We will develop a plan to be implemented over the next ten years. All members are invited to contribute to this effort actively. Small gestures make a significant and positive difference when multiplied by many. This is a crucial initiative for our Club to undertake. To ignore it and pass it on to the next generation would be irresponsible.
The main focus will be on education, sensitization to environmental issues that impact our Club, developing or joining ecological programs, and establishing guidelines to help us make the changes needed so that our Club has a positive environmental impact. We want to be good citizens within our local community and partner with different levels of government and organizations working to solve environmental issues. We must also identify our current carbon footprint and its components to determine the most pressing issues.
The program will initially focus on developing a roadmap since the plan will be executed over ten years. The roadmap will be updated as new information and resources come to light as we explore collaborations with other organizations, including the universities.
Any plan must be pragmatic to succeed. We want to identify high-quality actions that will have a tangible impact on our overall relationship with our environment.
Remember to check this space for news and updates as we develop our roadmap.
